This seminar sets out to create a secure environment in which to experiment with thoughts onwhat it means to queer particular subject matter. Most recent queer theory no longer focuses exclusively on homosexuality and its lived experience. Instead it asks existential questions regarding the widest range of society, while at times acting in accordance with Eve Kosofsky Sedgewick’s suggestion, to analyze closely through looking at case studies. Thus the subjects of queer theory are now understood as on the margins in terms of class, race, gender, age and bodily abilities as well as simultaneously as part of the hegemonic mainstream, the class who mostly make and assert social norms.
